About Us

The Czech, Australian, New Zealand Association (CANZA) was formed in June 2005 to bring together Czechs, Australians and New Zealanders and to foster the promotion of Australian and New Zealand culture, business and sporting interests in the Czech Republic

CANZA is a non-profit organisation which provides a networking platform for Australians and New Zealanders living in and around Czech Republic. We also offer a way for Czechs who are curious about Australian and New Zealand culture to learn a little more - without the need to travel.

Our Vision

We:

• Raise the profile and promote the interests and culture of Australia and New Zealand in the Czech Republic
• Are a focal point for Czechs and others seeking to experience the Australian and New Zealand way of life
• Offer networking opportunities for Czechs, Australians, New Zealanders and others seeking to form business, cultural and sporting ties in the Czech Republic
• Provide a forum where Australians, New Zealanders and others can connect with and experience Czech culture.

Achievements to Date

• Since our inception, we have held a regular informal drinks evenings which provide an informal forum for newcomers to meet more established residents.
• We have run an annual charity ball every December through which we have raised well over 1,000,000 CZK for a range of childrens' charities in the Czech Republic.
• In addition we run more formal monthly dining and wine events often in association with one of our sponsors, Club Vivanova, which are well attended by CANZA members and others.
• We have developed an active online community focused on Australian and New Zealand issues. This focuses especially around our facebook group.
• We have worked with the New Zealand and Australian embassies to offer a range of business, sporting and especially cultural events in the Czech Republic.
• We have actively supported the efforts of Australian and New Zealand artists on tour in the Czech Republic and/or attending events such as the Prague Fringe festival.
• We have brought Australian rules football and Rugby league to the Czech Republic.
• We have helped a large number of local and international charities.
