We started the year with a hugely popular Waitangi Day / Australia Day drinks night at U Kurelů.
Joint Business Mixer - 25 Feb
The evening will features:
- Tasting of premium Australian, Canadian and New Zealand wines from Smart Buying Wine and Tombalina Wines
- An introduction to Australian Business in Europe – which will launch in the Czech Republic during 2016
- An update on Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)
- An overview of the current situation in world financial markets provided by Astra Financial Services
- Drinks and nibbles, and of course
- The chance to meet and network with senior business-people who are members of the two chambers.
Around the World with 14 Chambers - Joint Business Mixer
In cooperation with most other major foreign chambers of commerce in the Czech Republic, CANZA, together with Australasian Business in Europe, organisedan evening event at Zofin Garden called Around the World with 14 Chambers.
This was a multicultural social and networking evening during which more than 500 senior business participants were offered the opportunity to taste culinary specialties from all over the world. Each of the participating chambers had a booth for presentation of the country. The AU/NZ booth featured NZ Tourism, Wine tasting of premium Australian and NZ wines from Foltýn Wine and real Aussie sausage rolls courtesy of The Pie Shop.

Despite slightly dodgy weather, ANZAC Day was a big success.
The usual moving ceremony at Olsany featured the Czech Army Bands, and was followed by the traditional family day, this year at Pavilion Grebovka in Vinohrady.
The event was a fantastic family day out and included:
- Heavily subsidised beer and wine
- Live music
- Lots of children's activities
- Subsidised food available from the venue including bbq specials at very low prices.
We raised 6668 CZK for the New Zealand Returned Services Association. For those who have not yet seen the photos of the event, you can see some of them here.

Lunch with Jason Collins
ABIE held a business lunch on Friday 21 October which was addressed by Jason Collins, Chief Executive Officer of the European Australian Business Council and Chairman of European Business Organisations Worldwide.

Aussie Film Fest / Kiwi Film Fest
CANZA was proud to be a media partner for this festival which ran from 18 - 23 November.
The festival has a great selection of films, and to celebrate the festival we organised a CANZA/ABIE opening party which rook take place following the opening night screening on 18 November at Lucerna.
Around 400 people attended this event which was a great showcase of NZ and Aussie culture in the Czech Republic. You can see photos of the event on Facebook.
2016 Charity Ball
Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s ball.
It was a great night with a wonderful performance from ACDC and a very pleasing donation to our charity, Pink Crocodile (just shy of 100,000 CZK).
We apologize that the sound was atrocious and we were disappointed with that aspect - so next year's ball will be held somewhere else. The sound was something that we thought we had under control and it was working well during the afternoon, but as it proved on the night - we did not. As a result, Cardinal Len was forced to give counselling to some of his many parishioners. Notwithstanding this aspect, we had a great time and we're looking forward to an even better event next year!
