Business Luncheon, Friday 24 October
Guests were privileged to hear from New Zealand Ambassador H.E. Allan Cook on the topic "New Zealand and the EU: Natural Partners in a Globalized World". Tragically, a short time after giving this presentation Allan fell ill and subsequently lost a long and determined fight against leukemia and related complications on 14 May 2010. Alan had a long and distinguished diplomatic career, including a posting as Ambassador to Turkey, before becoming Ambassador to Germany and the Czech Republic.
CANZA Christmas Gala Business Dinner, Friday 27 November
Around 40 CANZA members and guests enjoyed a successful Christmas Business Dinner at the Augustine Hotel in Prague, dining on gourmet food and sampling the newest range of New Zealand wines in Prague courtesy of our friends at Club Vivanova and Mitton Wines. As a special Christmas treat, thanks to our great supporters Interdean (www.interdean.cz), we also enjoyed an amazing classical music recital by visiting Australian concert pianist Gil Sullivan (www.gilsullivan.com.au), ranging from Mozart to Chopin to Australian composer Tristram Cary, which left some guests with goose bumps! We were also honoured to have the Australian Hon Consul Petr Vodvarka and New Zealand Hon Consul David Chirnside in attendance.
CANZA Christmas “Beach” Party, Saturday 12 December
We all enjoyed a great night at the CANZA Christmas Party at the Sheraton Hotel Prague. Highlights included an electric performance from Reggae Band Cocoman and the Solid Vibes and tunes from Kiwi DJ Tane Langton who played everything from Crowded House and Men at Work to Rolf Harris! With some great Aussie wines and didgeridoo playing everyone got into the spirit of a Down Under Christmas. And congratulations to Doug and Lenka for winning the best beach gear prizes.
